Open Question: Will the economy get better?
I am 15 and all the things I want to do are considered "useless" in this economy. I wanted to be a video game artist but it seems too unreliable and not a stable career and the colleges are so expensive for that field. Now I want to be a translator because languages are a passion of mine. I want to do Japanese translation and I looked up everything I could to see how to become one. I wanted a bachelors degree in Japanese but how useful will that be. My mom says don't go for a career that you don't want to do.
I know a few people who worked in jobs for over 20 years and then get laid off. I'll use my uncle for example. He worked at Electric Boat for many years and they laid him off. It's been two years and he hasn't found a well paying job. I even help him look for jobs and he doesn't hear back from any of the ones he applied for.
My mom was unemployed for 2 years and found a job at the hospital later. It is 45 minutes away and it runs up her gas and gas is expensive so every week she is running low on money. Our state is expensive and we want to move but everywhere she applies, no one calls back. She is qualified as a CNA but no job accepts her except the one she has now which isn't working out for her. She works for the government and she doesn't want to leave it since she worked hard to get it. Seeing multiple people struggling with this scares me because I dream of having a career that I will enjoy but I don't know anyone that got their dream job because the economy.
Will the economy get better by the time I graduate 2015? Everyday I see stories on the news of people struggling to find work.
