There are many singers in this world all unique and individual, no one alike. There is Pop, Country, Rock and many other genres of music. Taylor Swift, a country/pop music singer is just one of those people in the music Industry. She is known to some as a great role model and inspiration from starting at such a young age and pursuing her dream.
Taylor Swift grew up in the town of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania on a Christmas tree farm (Parvis 8). She was born in Reading, Pa on December 13, 1989, as Taylor Alison Swift (Ray). Swift’s fathers name is Scott Swift and her mother’s is Andrea Swift. Taylor Swift has one younger brother named Austin Swift (TV Guide). When, she was in Middle School she went through a tough time by being bullied and excluded by her friends. “It was a really lonely time in my life” (Parvis 36). She felt as if she no longer felt apart or included by her classmates. “I would go to school some days and not know who I was going to talk to, and that’s a really terrifying thing for somebody who’s twelve” (Parvis 36). Since she found the only thing she could rely on in that moment was song writing, she wrote the song The Outside to describe her feelings. At her young age of eleven she sang The Star - Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. The following year she began to write her own songs with her guitar (Ray). In honor of her devotion to get a recording contract her family moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee, in order to try and help her start her career (Ray). In 2004 ,at age fourteen, Sony/Atv signed her as a songwriter. Still she continued to sing a local cafes and bars which she states embarrassed her parents, but at one such performance at the Blue Bird Café, Scott Borchetta noticed her performance and signed Swift to his fledgling record label Big Machine Records, which was just the start of her career (Ray).
Under her new label she released her first song entitled Tim McGraw in the summer of 2006. Her first song spent over eight months on the Billboard County single charts. In 2008 Swift released Fearless that had a pop vibe, but she never lost her original county roots (Ray). Her album remained on the charts for eleven weeks under Album # 1 on billboard Top 200 chart. It sold around 542,000 copies in just its first week. In the past ten years her Album Fearless had spent more time upon the Billboard charts than any other album (Ray). She also became the highest selling country artist of 2008 (Bio. TRUE STORY).
Taylor Swift has had all kinds of awards for her music from CMT awards to Grammy’s. Swift has won six Grammy awards, six CMT awards, one MTV video music awards, ten American Music Awards and even more (TV Guide). All though she has won many awards it has not always been fun for her, during one of her acceptance speeches for winning the MTV Video Music award for Best Female Video, Kayne West stepped upon the stage with her, took her microphone and announced “Yo Taylor, I'm really happy for you, and ima let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time! Of all time!”
Taylor Swift was unable to complete her speech and Kayne West had to be removed from the show. Later in the show when Beyonce was accepting one of her awards for Best Video of the year, she called Swift up on stage to finish her speech. West apologized to swift later and made a public apology on The Jay Leno Show (Bio. TRUE STORY).
In conclusion, Taylor has achieved her dreams from just a child to now a healthy twenty-two year old. She overcame obstacles no matter what happened. With her parents loving help and her true dedication she made her career come true and never gave up and now is living her dream.
