Resolved Question: What is your input on the gender debate over a violent sexual scene in the new Tomb Raider video game trailer?

This video game trailer sparked the war: see 2:00 and upwards

The new 'Tomb Raider' game shows a suggestive sexual assault on the main character (Laura Croft) in the trailer. This has sparked a massive gender debate with the rallying cries of feminists wanting to get this game pulled or banned- saying depicting such crimes against women in entertainment (such as video games) is certainly unacceptable. They have made assumptions that the main character will be raped in the game and it will be controlled by the gamer, all based on an assumption of some CGI cut-scenes in the trailer.

What do you think about this issue? Why doesn't anyone protest against violence against men in Hollywood movies or video games? Are men seen as expendable, or do men just have more valuable things to do with their time than complain and whine over things they cannot change?

I would appreciate your input on this issue, thank you.

As a non-gamer, I feel that it is ludicrous to try and change or outlaw such depictions. Although they are atrocious, I believe people should have the right and freedom to include said scenes or options in their video games, movies, or productions without having a severe legal and social backlash. Is this sexual assault scene worse than showing a scene of a man getting shot to death or beaten?
@Jessica: It is being discussed on many feminist boards. They want that scene pulled from the game, while others want it to be banned. I would suggest you narrow down your Google search items for better results, as the internet is literally packed with rich resources if you know what to search for.

@Facade: The game is an example of blatant sexist discrimination which fails the Bechdel test (even though it is bias) especially with the objectification of the main character (Laura Croft). However, that is not my argument, my argument is that these people should be free to legally do this without legal or social repercussions. We are living in a society which prides itself with freedom, but said freedom is often limited over such things which have no cerebral basis.

@Jeff: I think that they should be able to portray her however they wish to do so. Not all feminists act in such a disgraceful manner. However, considering most feminists are quite irrational and are looking for a stro
-ng role-model in their life they will blindly follow others without forming their own opinions on the matter. Most feminists I know just follow what their leaders tell them too, and I cannot respect someone who is incapable of forming their own opinion about things.

@King Lion: I agree with everything you said, but please realize that not all feminists are like this: only the majority that we see because they bring attention to themselves with their protests and social campaigns.
@Ryuk: had this villain been a female, I can guarantee you it would have been called out by various feminist organizations.

@mr chao: That sounds about accurate to me.
@Rowdy: We can agree to disagree :) Thank you for stating your opinion and it's nice to see you again.
@Lion: You msged me asking for a link to a chatroom for GS. Unfortunately I am not welcome on any of them, so I will not be giving out any links which I know of. You can ask IncubusGS for his chatroom, or just google 'genderstudies chatroom' it's on there somewhere.

Open Question: RHH: So is The Game a wanksta?

I know this is old news but...He has always claimed to be blood, but in the video of Martians vs Goblins, he throws up the crip sign. If he was a real blood he would have gotten killed or atleast get the sh*t beatin out of him.

BQ: Also, since when was he Horrorcore?
