Open Question: M1 Garand en bloc Chest Rig?

In teh popular video game, Call of Duty World at War, many marines areseen wearing what looks to be en bloc chest rigs. They hold ten? Can anyone name this rig, give me backround history on it or give me a link?
No, not like a simple bandolier, this took up the whole chest and gut area.
