Open Question: Does this sound interesting?

A man with dark hair strode towards a white mansion. The mansion was surrounded by various leaves, flowers, and trees. Recently, someone had taken care of the mansion’s quality because many of the bushes were cut into beautiful, realistic animals and the flowers looked bright and exquisite. As the dark-haired man walked past the broken gate of the mansion, a stern-looking butler from inside the mansion had stared at him through the window.

“What business do you have here, Smith?” asked the butler coolly, as the man entered the mansion. He took off his large coat and shoved it towards the butler, not bothering to even glance at him. He looked around the interior of the mansion, searching for other souls.

“Where are they, Wyatt?” Smith asked the butler. “After mailing them several letters in code telling them I’ve got important news, you’d expect them to be running towards me, ready to engulf me in congratulations.” He finally looked at the butler named Wyatt and stood there, waiting for a reply. “Well, Wyatt, where are they?”

“In the west wing,” spat the butler. He stared at Smith sternly with obvious hatred in his eyes, shooed him towards an elegant-looking door, and pushed it wide open for him. In the room, there were several people sitting at a long, oval table. Many people sat at identical-looking chairs from one another, however a man sitting at the end of the table sat in the highest, ruby-encrusted chair with sparkling jewels and diamonds on the sides. “Smith is here, master,” Wyatt said towards the man on the highest chair. “He claims to have found information for us -- or say he says so,” he added crisply.

The man nodded his head, gestured for Wyatt to move out, and looked at Smith as if he were a disgusting insect he’d particularly like to step on. Many of the people sitting at the table stared at him the same way, mimicking their boss. Finally, he said, “So, it’s Kyle Smith. I haven’t seen you in a while, however I have received many of your letters -- many aggravating and repetitive letters, actually...,” the man said. Nearly everyone at the table had chuckled and laughed or smiled at the man's statement.

Kyle looked embarrassed. “Well, no one responded to my letters, so I thought no one had read them yet,” he said, trying to defend himself. “After you hear what I found out about all the information on Jacob Reynolds and his project, I believe that everyone in this room --,” Kyle said, staring deeply into everyone’s eyes, “--will finally appreciate and regard me of the highest.

“What I have found out about,” Kyle continued, “is that Reynolds has been working very hard on this specific project. Obviously, it must be important, because Reynolds quit his old job at the company to work in a scientific organization. Scientists are trying to develop or emulate a version of this world into a computerized video game where the player can actually be in the game.”

He paused dramatically as many people from the table looked at him, interested.

“And is that it?” asked the boss. “We could have merely found that out by asking Reynolds himself since he trusts us so well, but you took the liberty of actually being a spy for us and pretending to work in their organization to find out that Reynolds has been working on a video game for children and it took you two years to figure that out. Really, Smith, I expect more from you. When you said you were coming back with interesting and important news, I had thought it would be something that might’ve struck my attention.”

Kyle’s face turned ruby red as he shuffled his feet uncomfortably. “There’s much more to it, Master Herald.”

-----------

This is the beginning of chapter one. I'm not done yet, but is my writing okay?
Thanks, Kira! If I finished my whole story and published it out, you would know why I wouldn't want to put a lot of character description in it. None of these men are the main characters. This is just kind of like a "replay" of what happened in the past. The rest of the story takes place in the present, because all of these men have something to do with the murder of the main character's parents.
