Open Question: Which video games have really surprised you?

In this current generation of console gaming, I'd like to know which games have really surprised you...

I'd like to hear examples of both extremes... the good and the bad...

My Example -

The Good: I saw a screenshot for Binary Domain (the robot face under the human flesh) and fell in love with it... but when it was released it was critically panned everywhere, I was reluctant to even rent it... I'm really glad I did... really enjoyed it... especially the team dynamics and that Cain robot character...

The Bad: 'Rage'. Best looking game out, game play was fun and the weapons were really cool... but that was where it ended... The campaign must be the shortest in history, by the time you get good weapons you've no time to use them and lastly... the story itself was very thin (it started out like an epic story but just ended up being rushed and went nowhere)...

So guys, what are your examples of the best and the worst surprises in recent video game quality???
